The reimagined park in Trenčín will serve as a backdrop to the European City of Culture events in 2026. Currently, Štefánik Park is defined by movement between its opposite poles – the city center and its railway station. Over this linear commute, the project inserts a sauntering sequence of stops offering a slowdown focusing on new or re-emphasized park amenities. It contrasts the abstracted axis of movement and the natural character of the park.

New Playground for Štefánik Park

A new playground design is included in the planning submission. It responds to a wooded surrounding and playfully combines a strict grid of rotational forms superimposed on existing vegetation. An animated playscape emerges from the interaction of slides, nets, trampolines and other equipment, combined with trees and topography.
SJK Pavilion receives CE ZA AR Award

A building from the 70s with services for one of the oldest public parks in Central Europe became a maison close, inhibiting public activities in its surroundings. Closed during Covid and re-purchased by the city, its restoration aimed to shine light on its late modern qualities. We cleared interiors, exposed ceilings, added an open kitchen and public restrooms. Sliding glass panels reconnect the café with its surrounding landscape.
The building received the CE ZA AR Award from the Slovak Chamber of Architects.
